Take a Walk. Meet Something With Fangs.
If you need a walk but the weather has other ideas, go where the air is tropical. Garfield Park Conservatory is open late Wednesday, with Creatures of the Night adding close-up wildlife encounters to your lap through the greenery.
Where: Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave., Chicago
When: Wednesday, Oct. 28, 4–7 p.m. for Creatures of the Night; conservatory open 10 a.m.–8 p.m. (last entry 7:15 p.m.)
Cost: Free for Chicago residents with proof of address; regular adult admission $10 for nonresidents

Expect plants, curious critters, and a legitimate reason to put your phone away. This is a visit, not a workout challenge.
