Today’s Best Travel Souvenir Needs a Stamp
World Post Day is a good excuse to rescue the postcard from the souvenir drawer. Send one from your own city if you aren’t traveling. A familiar street can still look wonderfully foreign to someone else.
World Post Day
When: Friday, October 9, 2026
About the day: Universal Postal Union
The date marks the postal union’s creation in 1874; the observance was established in Tokyo in 1969. Our suggested celebration is smaller: a few handwritten sentences and a trip to the mailbox.
