Paulie Gee's Wicker Park

This Is the One You Go to After the Bar Closes

Paulie Gee's Wicker Park is the walk-up, counter-only, New York slice version of its Logan Square sibling — and it is exactly what it needs to be.

The Logan Square location is where you go to sit down, order a craft cocktail, and spend an evening with a Neapolitan pie. The Wicker Park location is a different proposition entirely. Walk up, order at the counter, grab your slice, and go. This is late night pizza. This is the stop you make after you've closed down your favorite bar and need something crispy and substantial to anchor the evening.

The format here is New York style. Crisp, rigid, foldable. Sold by the slice or as whole pies up to 20 inches if you're feeding a group or just planning ahead. The crust has the same care behind it as Logan Square but does a completely different job. Where Neapolitan is about chew and char, New York is about the fold and the crunch and the way a good slice holds itself together when you pick it up. Paulie Gee's Wicker Park gets that right.

Both locations are exceptionally vegan friendly, which is worth knowing if you're coming with a group of varying diets. Nobody gets left out here.

There are a couple of communal standing tables if you want to eat on the spot. It is a very good slice of pizza available when you need one. That is a legitimate and underrated thing to be.
